Get to know Me

Hey! This is Catey

The story of Catey's Camera started with my grandmother's camera when I was just twelve. That dusty old film camera ignited a passion in me that never went out. It led me to become a photo editor and later the editor-in-chief of my high school yearbook, where I had the incredible opportunity to design and produce the entire book by myself.

At the University of Virginia, my journey took off. While shooting for UVA Athletics, I built Catey’s Camera, expanding from fast-paced sports to graduation shoots, Greek life formals, concerts, and intimate weddings. Each experience taught me how to tell stories through emotion and authenticity.

From the fast-paced world of D1 sports at UVA to the quiet, intimate moments of an elopement in the Rocky mountains, my camera has been my constant companion. I’ve always been drawn to capturing authenticity, and while I love experimenting with new creative approaches, my goal is always the same: for you to look back at your photos and not only see the day as it happened, but to feel the same warmth and joy. Whether you're celebrating a graduation, an anniversary, or just the small, beautiful moments of life, I would love to tell your story.

Why I do this

In my work today, I focus on the raw emotions and genuine connections that make your life unique. My purpose is to create more than just images; I want to build a timeless narrative of your life, preserving every story with natural beauty and heartfelt authenticity.

How I work

While the end result is a polished, professional gallery, my process is all about having fun. Collaboration and communication are key to a great shoot, and I love to start by listening to your story, your vision, and what you hope to capture. My top priority will always be to make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

Fun Facts about me

I am a huge EDM fan and will swap music with you if you ask me to (bring a speaker to the shoot).

I love skiing and go with my dad every year. He is still much better and much faster than I.

Beyond my photography business, I work full-time. Schedule = scary.

Can't wait to meet you
